Oman: AI Summit, 2nd Edition

Extending our work in the region, we contributed to the 2nd edition of the Oman AI Summit. Held on 27–28 January 2025 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat, and endorsed under Oman Vision 2040, the summit is organized by Tazeez for Artificial Intelligence to support the Sultanate's national AI and cloud technology strategy.

Oman AI Summit and Regional AI Development

The 2025 edition drew over 3,000 attendees, more than 100 exhibitors, and 70-plus international speakers from more than 40 countries, with participation from over ten foreign institutions. Speakers and delegates spanned government officials, industry pioneers, and technology leaders, including His Excellency Mohammad bin Suleiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah; Oxford Insights CEO Richard Stirling; and representatives from Huawei Cloud, SenseTime MEA, Lufthansa Industry Solutions, and the Office of the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Technology, alongside senior figures from Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Central Bank of Oman.

Discussions centered on integrating AI into economic diversification priorities across manufacturing, logistics, and tourism, alongside sessions on ethical and transparent AI governance and on preparing the local workforce for AI-driven job creation, themes directly tied to Oman Vision 2040's push to reduce dependence on oil revenue. The summit reflects a broader wave of national AI strategy-building across the Gulf, with Oman positioning itself, alongside Saudi Arabia and the UAE, as a hub for AI investment and talent development in the region, anchored by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology's role in shaping the Sultanate's AI and cloud technology roadmap. Our contribution focused on public systems and technology policy in the region.
